A migration project from VB to WinFX was kicked off for a US client (16 May, 2006)Abstract Technology lately started a migration project for a US client which is focusing on helping its clients building business on the web. There existed an application built in VB 6.0 SP 5 with SQL Server 6.5 as the database in the client's side. It contains about 20,000 fields and tens of screens which need converting from VB.6.0 to WinFX, without changing the business logic. The screen converting consists of interface constructing, event handling and data binding. WinFX, the set of next-generation managed APIs provided by Microsoft, includes Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), and Windows Workflow Foundation. It makes programming windows applications easier, with much less bugs existed. Since WinFX is a quite new technology, we assigned 3 developers who are experienced in ASP.Net and VB.Net to execute the programming work, for that screening conversion programming and field event handling is very close to those technologies. At present, the project is proceeding smoothly in the implementation phase with the efforts of our .Net team.
